Food safety
Allergen information
Some of our dishes contain allergens. If you or any of your guests have a food allergy or intolerance, please speak to us before you order and we will talk you through the ingredients in every dish on your menu. Please tell us about any allergy when you request your quote, so we can plan your menu safely.
The 14 regulated allergens
Food law in Great Britain requires businesses to be able to tell customers whether food contains any of fourteen specified allergens. These are:
- Celery
- Cereals containing gluten
- Crustaceans
- Eggs
- Fish
- Lupin
- Milk
- Molluscs
- Mustard
- Tree nuts
- Peanuts
- Sesame
- Soybeans
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites
How we handle allergies
- Tell us at quote stage, not on the day. The earlier we know, the more we can do — including changing the menu so an allergen is not in the kitchen at all for your event.
- We will go through your menu with you. Rather than handing you a generic list, we will talk through the dishes you have actually chosen.
- Please never assume. Recipes vary between caterers and between events. A dish that is free from an allergen elsewhere may not be here. Always ask.
- We will be honest about what we cannot guarantee. We cook multiple dishes in one kitchen. Where we cannot rule out cross-contamination for a severe allergy, we will say so plainly rather than reassure you and hope.
Written allergen information
We are in the process of preparing a written, dish-by-dish allergen breakdown to publish on this page. Until it is here, please ask us directly — we will give you accurate information about every dish on your menu before anything is confirmed.
Providing this information verbally, with a clear notice telling you how to get it, is a recognised way of meeting the legal requirement for non-prepacked food. We would still rather have it in writing for you, and we are working on it.
Dietary requirements
Beyond allergens, tell us about anything else that matters for your guests — vegetarian and vegan requirements, and any other dietary need. Our menu already includes a range of vegetable, daal and rice dishes, and we will plan the balance of your menu around who is actually eating.
